its radical new Corvette in 1962, based on the Sting Ray race car. The
road cars had a huge number of performance options, and it is this, plus
the car's very quick pace, which made many successful race machines. This
roadster is typical of the breed, with the original frame reinforced with
a multi-point roll cage that stiffens up the structure and helps to make
the suspension work better. The springs and shocks have all been uprated
to the sort of standard that would usually rattle fillings loose on the
road, though they make this roadster into the ultimate corner carver.
This car uses the highest factory-rated engine, the 327 ci (5.4 litre)
'Fuelie', so called because it had Rochester mechanical fuel injection.
It also had specially designed aluminum cylinders heads, 11:1 compression,
and a modified distributor to promote power.
