a performance model from the off, and being tuner friendly, the 1957 Chevy
received modifications from the day it was produced. However, the timeless
design means that few choose to radically alter the bodywork, instead
concentrating on improving the car's chassis and drivetrain. This street/strip
racer retains the original frame but has new suspension arms, 2-inch (50
mm) drop spindles and lowering springs. Custom semi-elliptical leaf springs
lower the rear to match while dropping the centre of gravity to improve
handling. The powerplant is a small-block Chevy, though it's heavily modified
with a B&M supercharger and large carburettor. To help traction, a
narrowed 9-inch (229 mm) Ford axle with Positraction limited-slip differential
sits out back, along with 13-inch (330 mm) wide Mickey Thompson street/strip
tyres.
